Mini blepharoplasty

 

What is Mini-blepharoplasty ? 

The Small Incision Double Eyelid Surgery is a procedure designed to address various concerns without requiring excess eyelid skin removal. It involves making a 1-2 cm incision to gently open the eyelid skin in order to achieve the desired aesthetic outcomes.

Patient Selection : 

  • There is no first eyelid layer.

  • The eyes are not equal.

  • The eyelid is too small.

  • The eye layers are many layers.

  • Excessive fat eye

Usually this technique suit for patient with young age under   25 year old 

Benefits of Mini blepharoplasty

  • Minimally Invasive: Compared to traditional blepharoplasty, Mini blepharoplasty involves smaller incisions, leading to reduced scarring and quicker recovery times.

 

Preoperative instruction

  • It is advisable to refrain from taking medications that thin the blood, such as aspirin and Plavix, for at least 7-10 days or as prescribed by the doctor.

  • Take a shower, wash your face, and shampoo your hair on the morning of the scheduled surgery.

  • On the day of the double eyelid surgery, avoid wearing makeup or using cosmetics that are difficult to clean.

  • Prepare a caregiver for post-surgery assistance and avoid driving by yourself.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and choose a button-up shirt.

  • Eat easily digestible food before the surgery.

Step for Procedure

Step 1 :  Design and discuss  with doctor

Step 2 :  Anesthetic injection into the upper eyelid 

Step 3 :  Cut skin  3-5  cm.

Step 4 :  Fat removal will be performed as needed 

Step 5 :  Create  permanent crease with small suture 

Postoperative instruction

  • Sleep with your head elevated at a 45-degree angle for the first 2-3 days.

  • Apply cold compresses to the swollen area for the first 2-3 days or until the swelling subsides.

  • Avoid wearing contact lenses for 2 months (if there is muscle correction involved).

  • Avoid wearing makeup for 1 week.

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the surgical wound until it is fully healed.

  • Schedule a follow-up appointment within 7 days.

  • Take prescribed medications as instructed by the doctor.

  • Avoid scratching or picking at the wound.

  • You can eat regular meals, but avoid spicy foods.

  • The swelling will peak at around 2-4 days and then gradually improve until the stitches are removed.

These recommendations are based on my experience and standard care. And  are intended for patients undergoing surgery with me. They may differ from other surgeon in some details.

Surgical Time 20-30 min.
 Remove stitch 5-7  days
 Full recovery  1-3  mo.
